I drew this page after reading an interesting interview wih DivX, Inc. Co-founder and former Mp3.com executive Jordan Greenhall. It’s a conversation on the future of superheroes and their role in the current age of technological and scientific advancement. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and as much as I would like to see superhero comics embrace and reflect the reality of modern technology, I think there’s also the chance they would position themselves against It. With the Internet becoming more of a surveillance tool and the increasing threats to online freedom, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a return of ‘nature’ superheroes (Swamp Thing, Animal Man or Aquaman seem to be kind of popular these days); or even those with a spiritual vive like Thor or Wonder Woman.

Invisalingua & Tiny Man

My rendition of Felicia Day’s superheroine Invisalingua and her sidekick Tiny Man, the tiny man. As seen in “The Flog”.

“I guess I’d love be able to speak all languages and be invisible. That’s two powers, you say? Shut up! My name would be something inspired by those powers. Let’s say “Invisalingua”… well, maybe not. As for a sidekick, I’d like a tiny man named Tiny Man, because He can get in and out of cracks I couldn’t fit in. He would have emotional problems, because He’s too tiny, but later meet and marry a fairy. The story pretty much writes Itself”.
